Jeramie Kling

Jeramie Kling is a drummer in Spring Hill, FL. Jeramie was the drummer who toured and recorded the first two albums from The Absence. Jeramie left The Absence in 2008. Afterwards, he joined Ninety Minute Reflex, a very heavy Death Metal band from Clermont, FL. Jeramie is also the proprietor of the Smoke and Mirrors studio in Spring Hill, FL.

Smoke and Mirrors

Smoke and Mirrors

Smoke and Mirrors is a small studio in Spring Hill, FL. The studio was started by Jeramie Kling (The Absence, Ninety Minute Reflex) in 2008. Smoke and Mirrors is open to the public for recording.

While the studio is relatively small, it's a very nice place to record. The interior was designed to make artists feel 'relaxed', but is very professionally done. Tables are made out of kick drums, and a myriad of guitars hang on the walls.

Screamhouse Recordings

Screamhouse Recordings

Screamhouse Recordings is a small studio on the east side of Orlando, FL. Built in a warehouse, Screamhouse specializes in recording heavier music, but is open to recording other formats as well. Basic prices for recording start at $35 / hr for basic recording, but the studio is open to bartering equipment for studio time. These days, that should be enough to get a number of bands recorded that might not otherwise.

Inaugural Podcast!

The first podcast Florida Death Metal has ever made! On this episode, we talk about the new album coming out from Success Will Write Apocalypse Across The Sky, pray for new stuff from Nailshitter, mention the Rockstar Hayhem tour, and a little on Obituary's new album coming out in June.

Rockstar Mayhem Tickets on Sale

The Rockstar Mayhem (with Cannibal Corpse) is heading to Florida this August. The mega-tour, which features Marilyn Manson (he's still around?) and Slayer has a stop in West Palm Beach on August 11, and Tampa on August 12. Tickets are available online at livenation.com. Cannibal Corpse will play a second stage, which is a bit frustrating, considering some of the hacks that will get a main stage.

The Grand Partition, And The Abrogation Of Idolatry

The Grand Partition, And The Abrogation Of Idolatry is the latest release from the from Success Will Write Apocalypse Across The Sky (SWWAATS). It's also their first release on Nuclear Blast records, and took over a year to finalize after lineup changes delayed the recording of the album. The wait was worth it though: James Murphy's production of the band is amazing.

Tardy Brothers Release Bloodline

Bloodline
John and Donald Tardy, famous for their roles in the seminal Tampa-based Death Metal act, Obituary, have released a new album for their project, Tardy Brothers. The new album features some of Obituary's other members: Ralph Santolla, Jerry Tidwell, and Scott Johnson. The duo are on record stating this project should expand their musical direction.

From John Tardy:

Nile to Record at Mana Studios in June

Chalk another awesome band to record at Erik Rutan's incredible Mana Studios. In an interview with Chad Bower, of about.com, Nile guitarist Karl Sanders states the band will record their upcoming album in the Tampa studio. The interview, primarily about Karl Sanders' latest solo effort, can be read in it's entirety at about.com

Death Rituals

Six Feet Under has released their new album Death Rituals. While the album isn’t ground-breaking for the band, it’s still kicks ass. Songs like “Seed of Filth” stand as proof the band isn’t getting soft, while tracks like “Bastard” would have you think this was a classic rock band. Six Feet Under IS Death ‘n Roll, and Death Rituals stands to prove it to you.

Riders of the Plague

Riders of the Plague is the second album by The Absence. It was released on August 7, 2009 on Metal Blade. Riders is a lot of old school riffing, with a lot of new school ass-kicking. The band sounds a bit like Carcass, but that’s not to say they’re easily defined. Songs like Dead and Gone, and The Murders are amazing testaments to what the five piece from Tampa can accomplish. Speaking of testament, the band even does an awesome cover of ‘Into the Pit’ as well. Old skool <=> New Skool = Fuckin awesome!
