Death Rituals
Six Feet Under has released their new album Death Rituals. While the album isn’t ground-breaking for the band, it’s still kicks ass. Songs like “Seed of Filth” stand as proof the band isn’t getting soft, while tracks like “Bastard” would have you think this was a classic rock band. Six Feet Under IS Death ‘n Roll, and Death Rituals stands to prove it to you.
Music for the album was recorded and produced in the legendary Morrisound Studios (Cannibal Corpse, Obituary, Deicide, Morbid Angel, Death, Cynic, Iced Earth), by Toby Wright and Chris Carroll. The vocals were recorded at The Hit Factory in Miami, FL
The track list is as follows :
1. Death By Machete (3:45)
2. Involuntary Movement Of Dead Flesh (3:28)
3. None Will Escape (3:24)
4. Eulogy For The Undead (4:17)
5. Seed Of Filth (4:58)
6. Bastard (3:25)
7. Into The Crematorium (3:42)
8. Shot In The Head (5:02)
9. Killed In Your Sleep (4:37)
10. Crossroads To Armageddon (2:08)
11. Ten Deadly Plagues (5:10)
12. Crossing The River Styx (1:16)
13. Murder Addiction (3:56)
While much of the album is typical Six Feet Under, there are a few notable exceptions. The opening track “Death By Machete” starts off with a semi-cliche clean guitar arpeggio bit, followed by a typical Six Feet Under beat. “Into the Crematorium” has a similar, almost worthless intro. “Crossroads to Armageddon” sounds like something from the ambient SomaFM channel, rather than SFU.
“Crossing the River Styx” sounds like something that might have actually come from the band, Styx. Well, it might have come from them if they were high on crack and possessed by demons, but still. The song is a little pointless, but still a neat way to spend a minute and a quarter of your time.
Overall, the album is solid. For those of you who are looking for something slower, but still heavy, this is definitely a good pick. Songs from the new album are up on the band’s MySpace Page, just in case you don’t wanna take my word for it. ;)
